The Eindhoven dance and performance company United Cowboys is a collective of international artists led by a dedicated artistic team. Working from Eindhoven with productions spread throughout Europe. With the body as a sense, source, and language, United Cowboys explores the autonomy of man in a turbulent reality.

Depicting dreams and ideals, fears and desires. Experiencing, seeing, moving, discovering and expressing the free, true person and his world - that's what it's all about.

This photo book depicts United Cowboys in many forms over 30 years.

The majority of the photos were taken by Maarten van der Put (he is the artistic director of United Cowboys together with Pauline Roelants). There are also contributions from photographers who have captured the work of United Cowboys over the years.

This book was made possible thanks to financial support from the Jaap Harten Fonds and Constant van Renessefonds.

As part of the thirty-year anniversary of United Cowboys, a beautiful and extensive photo book has been published with hundreds of images from performances by the company. Pauline Roelants and Maarten van der Put achieved so much in those years. The book is full of striking fragments from large and smaller performances, from biotopes and from Seasonings, the presentations of United Cowboys in its own Art House in Eindhoven. Photos are also included of the performance The Nutcracker that United Cowboys made for the city theater in Kassel, Germany. It is a celebration of recognition for fans of the Cowboys. For those who know the company less well, the photo book offers plenty of space for an extensive introduction. What an impressive overview. Just like in the performances, the viewer is short of eyes, but the great advantage of a photo book is that the gaze can rest on the image for as long as someone wants. It's not over when you blink.Most of the photos, many printed full-page, were taken by Maarten van der Put. It is a beautiful flip book, published in a large format (Joost Goutziers-Theaterkrant)


In het kader van het dertig jaar bestaan van United Cowboys is een prachtig en lijvig fotoboek verschenen met honderden beelden uit voorstellingen van het gezelschap. Wat hebben Pauline Roelants en Maarten van der Put in die jaren veel gemaakt. Het boek staat vol met sprekende fragmenten van grote en kleinere voorstellingen, van biotopen en van Seasonings, de presentaties van United Cowboys in het eigen Art House in Eindhoven. Ook van de voorstelling The Nutcracker die United Cowboys maakte voor het stadstheater in het Duitse Kassel zijn foto's opgenomen. Het is een feest van herkenning voor fans van de Cowboys. Voor wie het gezelschap minder goed kent, biedt het fotoboek alle ruimte voor een uitgebreide kennismaking. Wat een indrukwekkend overzicht.
Net als in de voorstellingen komt de kijker ogen te kort, maar het grote voordeel van een fotoboek is dat de blik kan rusten bij het beeld, zolang als iemand zelf wil. Het is niet voorbij als je met je ogen knippert.De meeste foto's, veel zijn paginagroot afgedrukt, zijn gemaakt door Maarten van der Put. Het is een prachtig bladerboek, uitgebracht op groot formaat.
